Position Overview:
The Staff Accountant at Out of the Box Technology will play a crucial role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial records. Reporting directly to the Controller, this role will be responsible for executing daily accounting functions, preparing financial reports, and assisting with compliance requirements. A strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) is essential to ensure accurate and compliant financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations & Financial Reporting:
- Maintain the general ledger, ensuring accurate recording of financial transactions.
- Assist with the month-end and year-end closing processes, including journal entries and reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, ensuring compliance with GAAP.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and timely.
- Reconcile bank and credit card statements to maintain accurate cash balances.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure all financial transactions comply with GAAP and company policies.
- Support audit processes by preparing schedules, reports, and documentation for internal and external audits.
- Assist with tax filings, regulatory reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Monitor adherence to financial policies and recommend improvements where necessary.
Budgeting & Financial Analysis:
- Assist in preparing budgets and forecasts by providing accurate financial data.
- Conduct variance analysis to identify trends and discrepancies in financial statements.
- Provide financial insights to management to support business decision-making.
Process Improvement & System Optimization:
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and enhance efficiency.
- Support the implementation and maintenance of accounting software and financial systems.
- Assist in automating financial reporting and reconciliation processes.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field required.
- Experience: 2-4 years of accounting experience, preferably in a technology or professional services environment.
- Audit experience required either as (i) a former auditor at a public accounting firm or (ii) at a private company that has been audited by a public accounting firm
- Technical skills: Strong knowledge of GAAP, general ledger accounting, and financial reporting.
- Software proficiency: Experience with accounting software such as QuickBooks, NetSuite, or other ERP systems.
- Analytical ability: Strong attention to detail with the ability to analyze financial data effectively.
- Organizational skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Communication skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills to collaborate across teams.
